in minority survivors with TBI\, recent studes have examined the role of
race/ethnicity on return-to-work post-injury.\n\nThis webcast aims to exam
ine the effect of race/ethnicity on employment outcomes following TBI. We
will review studies that: 1) Compare employment outcomes between African A
 mericans\, Hispanics\, and Whites at one\, two\, and five years post-injur
y\; 2) Determine the influence of minority status on job stability after T
raumatic Brain Injury\; 3) Examine changes in employment over time within
each race group\; and 4) Compare the changes in employment over time betwe
en these racial groups. Finally\, implications\, conclusions\, and recomme
ndations for future research studies in this area will be highlighted and
 discussed in detail.

DESCRIPTION:February 21 - 23\, 2008. Location: Hilton\, St. Petersburg\, Fl
orida.\n\nThe International Conference on Aging\, Disability and Independe
nce (ICADI) will focus on approaches to support people as they age in main
taining independence in daily living at home\, at work and in the communit
y.\n\nAs people age\, independence can be maintained by use of assistive t
echnology\, by modifying homes\, workplaces and environments and by select
ing products that follow universal design principles. As people remain in
the workforce into advanced years or return to work\, knowledge and techno
logies are developing to adapt workplaces to meet their needs. Aging in th
e workplace is a new and significant area of focus for ICADI this year. Li
vable communities is another new focus\, representing a broadening of the
concepts of home modification and universal design to address design of co
mmunities so they are livable for all people. Mobility is another importan
t component of independence as it relates to walking and wheeling\, to dri
ving and to using other methods of transportation. Prevention of injuries
is essential to maintaining independence in advanced years. Current and fu
ture development in robotics will help and support individuals in everyday
tasks\; and\, advances in telehealth approaches hold promise in monitorin
g and serving health and independence-related needs.\nEach of these is imp
ortant to aging well and will be addressed in eight ICADI tracks by an int
ernational cadre of presenters representing research and development\, pol
 icy\, practice and services\, business\, and consumer perspectives.\nFor m
